Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
Roll the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, lightly pressing them to flatten.
Bake in preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
Allow the cookies to cool on a wire rack before serving.
