Classic Sugar Cookies

By Elizabeth

Total: 45 minutes
DessertCookiesSoy-Free

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

2

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. This should take about 3 minutes using an electric mixer on medium speed.

3

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract until well combined.

4

In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

5

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix the dough.

6

Using a tablespoon or small cookie scoop, drop balls of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches apart to allow for spreading.

7

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges start to turn golden. Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
