Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
Flatten each ball slightly with the palm of your hand.
Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
Remove from oven and let cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
