Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
While the pasta is cooking, grate the cheese and set it aside. Mince the garlic cloves.
In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Add the cooked pasta directly from the pot to the pan with garlic, using a slotted spoon or pasta fork. Toss to combine.
Reduce heat to low and add the grated cheese, stirring continuously until the cheese is melted and evenly coats the pasta.
Season the pasta with salt and black pepper, adjusting to taste.
Garnish with fresh basil leaves and grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
