Total: 30 minutes
BreakfastSide DishBaking

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

1

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Mix well.

3

Cut 1/2 cup of cold unsalted butter into small cubes. Add the butter into the flour mixture.

4

Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, blend the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

5

Pour in 3/4 cup of cold whole milk. Stir gently until the dough comes together. Do not overmix!

6

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it 3-4 times until it holds together (it should still look a little shaggy).

7

Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Using a floured round biscuit cutter, cut out biscuits and place them onto the prepared baking sheet.

8

Gather the scraps and repeat until all the dough is used.

9

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.

10

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving warm.
