Caramelized Pork Chops

Caramelized Pork Chops

By Wanda Robinson

Total: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Pork chops
  • 1/4 cup Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil

Instructions

1

Start by patting the pork chops dry with paper towels. This helps the caramelization process by ensuring they are not too wet.

2

Season both sides of the pork chops with salt and black pepper. Be generous with the seasoning for better flavor.

3

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering but not smoking.

4

Add the pork chops to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until browned and caramelized.

5

Flip the pork chops and sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the top of each chop. Cook for another 3-4 minutes on this side, allowing the sugar to melt and form a glaze.

6

If the pork chops are thick, you may need to reduce the heat to medium and cook them for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).

7

Remove the pork chops from the skillet and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving. This helps to retain the juices within the meat.

8

Serve the caramelized pork chops with your choice of sides, such as steamed vegetables or mashed potatoes.
