Vanilla Bean Custard Cake

Vanilla Bean Custard Cake

By emensah m

Total: 1 hour 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 large Eggs
  • 2 whole Vanilla beans
  • 2 tbsp Honey
  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 1/4 tsp Salt

Instructions

1

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

2

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the vanilla beans, split open, and scrape the seeds into the butter. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes to infuse the flavor.

3

In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs until light and fluffy. Gradually add the granulated sugar and continue to beat until the mixture is thick and pale.

4

Stir in the honey and brown sugar into the egg mixture. Mix well until both sugars are dissolved.

5

Add the infused butter along with the vanilla seeds to the egg mixture and stir until combined.

6

Sift the flour and salt together in a separate bowl. Gradually fold it into the wet ingredients, making sure to not over-mix.

7

Warm the milk slightly and slowly add it to the batter while stirring gently until you achieve a smooth consistency.

8

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.

9

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the cake is set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

10

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
