Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). In a large bowl, combine the lean ground turkey, bread crumbs, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
Form the mixture into 12 equal-sized meatballs. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, until they are cooked through and lightly browned.
While the meatballs are baking, cook the whole-wheat spaghetti according to the package instructions in salted water until al dente. This usually takes about 9-11 minutes. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, heat 1 teaspoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the marinara sauce and heat until it begins to simmer.
Add the baked meatballs to the skillet with the marinara sauce. Gently coat the meatballs with the sauce and simmer for an additional 5 minutes on low heat to meld the flavors.
Serve the meatballs and marinara sauce over the cooked whole-wheat spaghetti. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and additional chopped parsley for garnish.
