Ingredients

  • 1 piece ciabatta roll
  • 100 g fresh mozzarella
  • 1 piece tomato
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil
  • 1 tbsp balsamic glaze
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper

Instructions

1

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) to lightly toast the ciabatta roll.

2

Cut the ciabatta roll in half horizontally and lightly brush the cut sides with olive oil. Place them on a baking sheet, cut side up.

3

Place the ciabatta rolls in the preheated oven and toast them for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are just slightly crispy.

4

While the bread is toasting, slice the fresh mozzarella into 1/4-inch thick slices.

5

Slice the tomato also into 1/4-inch thick slices.

6

Once the ciabatta is toasted, remove it from the oven. Layer the bottom half of the ciabatta with slices of mozzarella.

7

Top the mozzarella with slices of tomato, then sprinkle the tomato and mozzarella with salt and pepper to taste.

8

Add the fresh basil leaves onto the tomato slices.

9

Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the basil leaves.

10

Close the sandwich with the top half of the ciabatta roll, pressing gently.

11

Serve the Caprese Sandwich immediately, cut in half if desired.
