Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up as well.
On a floured surface, stretch or roll out the pizza dough into your desired shape and thickness, generally about 12 inches in diameter for a standard pizza.
Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a pizza peel if using a pizza stone.
Spread the marinara sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges for the crust.
Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the marinara sauce.
Add fresh basil leaves on top of the cheese. Feel free to tear them for more flavor release or leave them whole for a more visual impact.
Drizzle a small amount of olive oil (about 1-2 teaspoons) over the top of the pizza for added flavor and a nice finish.
Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes. Slice and serve while hot, garnished with extra basil if desired.
