In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
Preheat a large frying pan over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter.
Dip one slice of bread at a time into the egg mixture, making sure both sides are well coated but not soaked. Let the excess drip off.
Place the coated bread slice onto the hot frying pan. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Repeat with the remaining slices, adding more butter to the pan as needed.
Serve the French toast hot, drizzled with maple syrup.
