In a shallow bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and cinnamon until well combined.
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add butter, allowing it to melt and coat the pan evenly.
Dip the slice of whole-grain bread in the egg mixture, making sure to soak both sides thoroughly.
Place the soaked bread slice onto the hot skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the toast is golden brown and cooked through.
Remove the French toast from the skillet and place it on a serving plate.
Drizzle the French toast with maple syrup to taste and serve immediately.
