Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the spaghetti.
While the pasta is cooking, mince the garlic cloves and chop the parsley finely.
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking for about 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant but not browned.
Add the shrimp to the skillet. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the shrimp turns pink and opaque, stirring occasionally.
Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet with the shrimp. Pour in the reserved pasta water to create a light sauce. Toss everything together well to combine and heat through.
Add the chopped parsley and give everything one last toss in the skillet.
Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Serve hot, garnished with extra parsley if desired.
