Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

1

Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C) and lightly grease six ramekins with butter or non-stick spray.

2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until the mixture is smooth and pale.

3

Gradually add in the milk while continuing to whisk the mixture.

4

Stir in the vanilla extract and salt, ensuring they are well combined.

5

Strain the custard mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a large pitcher or bowl to remove any egg solids.

6

Divide the strained custard mixture evenly into the prepared ramekins.

7

Place the ramekins in a large baking dish, and fill the baking dish with hot water halfway up the sides of the ramekins to create a water bath.

8

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until the custard is set around the edges but still slightly jiggly in the center.

9

Remove the ramekins from the water bath and let them cool to room temperature. Then, refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
