Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
While the pasta is cooking, grate the cheese if not pre-grated.
In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
Add the garlic powder and black pepper to the melted butter and stir for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
Reduce the heat to low and add the milk to the saucepan. Gradually stir in the cheese until it melts and forms a smooth sauce.
Once the pasta is cooked, drain it and add it to the saucepan with the cheese sauce. Toss to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.
Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt or pepper if needed. Serve hot.
