Beef Lasagna

Beef Lasagna

By Ebenezer Obiri

Total: 1 hour

Ingredients

  • 9 noodles Lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 2 cups Marinara sauce
  • 2 cups Ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese

Instructions

1

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

2

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.

3

Pour 1 cup of marinara sauce into the skillet with the cooked ground beef. Stir to combine and let simmer for another 2-3 minutes.

4

In a separate bowl, mix the ricotta cheese with salt and pepper to taste. This helps season the cheese layer.

5

Boil a pot of water and cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water to prevent sticking.

6

In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread 1 cup of marinara sauce on the bottom to prevent sticking. This is your base layer.

7

Place 3 lasagna noodles on top of the marinara sauce in the baking dish, side by side.

8

Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by half of the beef mixture, and then 1/3 of the mozzarella cheese on top.

9

Repeat the layering: place another 3 lasagna noodles on top, add the remaining ricotta cheese, remaining beef sauce, and another 1/3 of the mozzarella cheese.

10

Finish with the remaining 3 lasagna noodles on top. Spread the remaining marinara sauce over the noodles, and top with the remaining mozzarella cheese.

11

Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

12

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

13

Let the lasagna cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. This helps it hold its shape when served.

14

Serve warm and enjoy your homemade beef lasagna!
