  • 4 slices Ciabatta bread
  • 8 oz Fresh mozzarella
  • 2 large Tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup Fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tbsp Balsamic reduction
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • to taste pinch Salt
  • to taste pinch Black pepper

Instructions

Preheat your grill or a grill pan over medium heat.

Slice the ciabatta bread slices in half horizontally to create sandwich tops and bottoms.

Brush the inner sides of the ciabatta slices with olive oil.

Slice the mozzarella and tomatoes into thick slices.

On one slice of ciabatta, layer slices of mozzarella and tomato.

Add fresh basil leaves over the mozzarella and tomato slices.

Drizzle a small amount of balsamic reduction over the basil and other toppings.

Season with a pinch of salt and black pepper to taste.

Top with the other half of the ciabatta.

Place the sandwich on the grill, pressing lightly to create grill marks. Cook each side for about 3-4 minutes or until the cheese starts to melt and the bread is crispy.

Remove the sandwiches from the grill and let them sit for a minute before slicing each sandwich in half.

Serve the Caprese Sandwich warm with an extra drizzle of balsamic reduction if desired.
