Ingredients

  • 4 individual buns whole wheat sandwich thin buns
  • 8 slices turkey bacon
  • 4 slices low-fat cheddar cheese
  • 1 large tomato
  • 4 large leaves lettuce leaves
  • 4 tablespoon barbecue sauce
  • as needed N/A olive oil spray
  • to taste N/A salt
  • to taste N/A pepper

Instructions

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly spray with olive oil. Cook the turkey bacon slices until they are crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side.

Meanwhile, slice the large tomato into thin slices.

Lightly toast the whole wheat sandwich thin buns in a toaster or on the skillet used for the bacon.

On the bottom half of each sandwich thin bun, place one lettuce leaf followed by two slices of crispy turkey bacon.

Add a slice of low-fat cheddar cheese on top of the bacon.

Place 2-3 slices of tomato over the cheese, then drizzle 1 tablespoon of barbecue sauce over the top.

Finish with a sprinkle of salt and pepper to taste, and cover with the top half of the sandwich bun.

Repeat for the remaining sandwiches and serve warm.
