Creamy Cajun Shrimp Musubi

Ingredients

  • 1 lbs shrimp
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 unit orange
  • 1/2 unit lemon
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 6 cloves garlic cloves
  • 1/2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tbsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tbsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp lemon pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 tbsp parsley
  • 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp old bay seasoning
  • 1/2 tbsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • to taste pinch salt
  • 3 cups rice
  • to taste sheets nori sheets
  • 1 unit musubi mold
  • to taste unit chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

Wash rice thoroughly and cook rice.

Mince garlic and fresh parsley.

Slice your orange and lemon in half.

Butter your pan lightly and on medium high heat, cook your shrimp on both sides for 3-5 minutes or until it turns pink and opaque. Set aside.

Mix all your dry seasonings together in a bowl/plate and set aside.

In the same pan on medium heat, melt the rest of your butter (1/2 cup) then add your minced garlic. Add all your seasonings, orange, and lemon. Let sizzle for 1-2 minutes.

Add heavy cream and let thicken while carefully stirring with a spatula. Add your cooked shrimp and let cook for 1 more minute. Salt to taste, one small pinch at a time.

Cut nori sheets into halves.

Assemble musubi by filling 2/3 of your musubi mold with cooked rice. Press down on the rice with mold. Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley. Press mold down all the way then release the outside mold while pressing down. Layer your shrimps. Top with more fresh parsley.

Wrap with nori sheet with ‘shiny’ side outside and ‘rough’ side inside.
