Total: 30 minutes
BreakfastVegetarianIndian Cuisine

Ingredients

  • 120 g Semolina (rava)
  • 150 g Mixed vegetables (onion, carrot, peas)
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 8-10 pieces Curry leaves
  • 1 piece Green chili
  • 2 tsp Oil
  • 30 g Roasted peanuts
  • 360 ml Water
  • 2 tsp Black tea
  • 200 ml Milk
  • 200 ml Water for tea

Instructions

1

Dry roast the semolina (rava) in a pan over medium heat until it is aromatic and light brown in color. Transfer to a plate and set aside.

2

Heat 2 tsp of oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and allow them to splutter.

3

Add curry leaves and chopped green chili to the pan. Sauté for a few seconds.

4

Add the mixed vegetables (onion, carrot, peas) to the pan. Sauté until the onions are translucent and the vegetables are slightly tender.

5

Add 360 ml of water and salt to the pan. Bring to a boil.

6

Gradually add the roasted semolina to the boiling water while continuously stirring to prevent lumps from forming.

7

Once all the semolina is added, reduce the heat to low and cover the pan. Let it cook for about 5-7 minutes or until the water is absorbed and the semolina is cooked.

8

Turn off the heat and add roasted peanuts. Mix well and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

9

To make Masala Chai, boil 200 ml of water with 2 tsp of black tea in a small saucepan. Allow it to boil for about 3-4 minutes.

10

Add 200 ml of milk and sugar to taste. Continue boiling for another 2-3 minutes, then strain the tea into two cups.
