  • 1 cup Kidney beans
  • 2 medium Tomatoes
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 1 tbsp Spices (chili powder, cumin, oregano)
  • 1 tsp Olive oil
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.25 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 cup Water

Instructions

1

Dice the onion and tomatoes. Set them aside.

2

Heat 1 teaspoon of olive oil in a pot over medium heat.

3

Add the lean ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. This should take about 6-8 minutes.

4

Add the diced onion to the pot and continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes, until the onion is soft and translucent.

5

Stir in the spices (chili powder, cumin, oregano), salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1 minute until the spices are fragrant.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cover the pot and let it cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

8

Remove the lid and simmer for an additional 5 minutes to thicken the chili if desired. Adjust seasoning with more salt and pepper to taste.

9

Serve hot, garnished with additional toppings like chopped cilantro, if desired.
