Bring a medium pot of salted water to a boil. Add the whole-grain pasta and cook for 8-10 minutes or until al dente, according to package instructions. Reserve 1/4 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta.
In a large non-stick skillet, heat 1 tsp of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced cooked chicken breast and cherry tomatoes to the skillet. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the tomatoes start to soften and the chicken is warmed through.
Lower the heat to medium-low. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet along with the pesto and reserved pasta water. Stir well to combine, making sure the pasta is evenly coated with the pesto.
Add salt and black pepper to taste, stirring constantly. Continue to cook for another 2 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
Remove the skillet from the heat, and serve the pasta on plates. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top of each serving.
