In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
Melt the butter in the microwave or a pan, then add it to the mashed bananas. Stir until combined.
Add white sugar, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract to the banana mixture. Mix well until the ingredients are fully incorporated.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, being careful not to overmix.
Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly with a spatula.
Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.
Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
