Ingredients

  • 1 2/3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 1/3 cups Granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoons Vanilla
  • 1 teaspoons Baking soda
  • 2 items Eggs
  • 1 cup Pumpkin puree
  • 1/8 teaspoons Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoons Nutmeg
  • 1/3 cups Sherry
  • 1/3 cup Butter, softened
  • 2/3 cups Brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 teaspoons Ground ginger
  • 1/4 cup Chopped walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • as desired garnish Orange slices

Instructions

Sift together dry ingredients. Set aside.

Cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla, eggs and pumpkin puree. Beat well.

Mix pumpkin mixture with flour mixture and sherry. Blend just until ingredients are combined.

Pour into a greased and floured 9-by-5-inch loaf.

For streusel, cream butter with sugar. Add flour and ginger. Blend with hands to form small crumbles. Add walnuts.

Sprinkle streusel topping evenly over batter.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 50 to 60 minutes.

Cool on rack for 10 minutes. Remove from pan. Serve warm or at room temperature. Garnish with orange slices, if desired.
