Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil. Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the boiling water.
Add the pasta to the boiling water and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. This usually takes about 8-10 minutes.
While the pasta is cooking, slice the cherry tomatoes in half and set aside.
Slice the cucumber lengthwise, remove the seeds using a spoon, then cut into thin half-moon shapes.
Drain and rinse the olives if they are canned or jarred. Slice if needed.
Once the pasta is cooked, drain it and run it under cold water to cool it down quickly. Shake off excess water.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta, cherry tomatoes, olives, and cucumber.
Drizzle the Italian dressing and 1 tablespoon of olive oil over the salad ingredients.
Gently toss the salad to coat the ingredients with the dressing. Season with 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper and more salt if needed. Toss again to distribute the seasoning evenly.
Serve the pasta salad immediately, or chill it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to let the flavors meld. Optionally, garnish with fresh herbs like basil or parsley before serving.
