Peel and cut the potatoes into evenly sized chunks (about 1 inch).
Place the potato chunks into a large pot and cover them with cold water.
Add a pinch of salt to the water and bring to a boil over high heat.
Once boiling, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until the potatoes are fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
Drain the potatoes in a colander and return them to the pot.
Add the butter, milk, salt, and pepper to the potatoes.
Mash the potatoes using a potato masher until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
Serve warm as a delicious side dish.
