Oatmeal with Banana & Sunflower Seeds (Nut-Free)

By Miriam Klein

Total: 15 minutes
BreakfastVegetarianNut-Free

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 4 cups milk or milk alternative
  • 2 whole, sliced bananas
  • 4 tbsp sunflower seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • to taste tbsp honey

Instructions

1

In a medium saucepan, combine the rolled oats and milk over medium heat. Stir occasionally to prevent the oats from sticking to the bottom.

2

Once the mixture begins to simmer, turn the heat down to low and continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until the oats have absorbed most of the milk and achieved a creamy consistency, about 5 to 7 minutes.

3

Add the sliced bananas and sunflower seeds to the oatmeal, mixing them in until evenly distributed.

4

Sprinkle cinnamon over the oatmeal and stir to combine. Adjust the amount based on your preference for spice.

5

Taste the oatmeal and drizzle with honey as desired, stirring until well combined.

6

Serve the oatmeal warm in bowls, optionally garnished with additional banana slices or sunflower seeds as desired.
