Methi Chicken

Ingredients

  • 2 pieces chicken breasts
  • 1 cup methi leaves
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 1 piece onion
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • to taste none salt
  • to taste none pepper
  • 2 tablespoons oil

Instructions

Wash and roughly chop the methi leaves. Set them aside.

Cut the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces.

In a bowl, mix the yogurt with turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Add the chicken pieces to this marinade and let it sit for at least 15 minutes.

Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.

Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.

Add ginger-garlic paste and fry for another minute until the raw smell disappears.

Add the marinated chicken pieces to the pan and stir well.

Cover the pan and let the chicken cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Once the chicken is almost done, add the chopped methi leaves. Mix well and cook for another 5 minutes until the methi leaves are wilted and the chicken is fully cooked.

Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve hot with rice or roti.
