Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Place the chicken on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil for easy cleanup. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels to ensure the skin gets crispy.
In a small bowl, combine the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
Drizzle the chicken with olive oil and rub it all over the skin. Then, sprinkle the spice mix evenly over the chicken, rubbing it into the skin.
Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
After the initial baking, remove the chicken from the oven and brush generously with BBQ sauce, covering the entire surface.
Return the chicken to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the skin is crispy and caramelized.
Allow the chicken to rest for 5 minutes before carving and serving.
