Homemade French Fries

Homemade French Fries

By Eben Dwamena

Total: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 medium Potatoes
  • 4 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper

Instructions

1

Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into even sticks, about 1/4 inch thick for uniform cooking.

2

Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 15 minutes to remove excess starch. This helps achieve crispiness.

3

Drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel to remove moisture, which can cause splattering when frying.

4

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan or heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

5

Carefully add the potatoes to the hot oil in batches to prevent overcrowding. Fry for about 5-6 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy.

6

Remove the fries with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Season with salt and pepper while they are still hot.

7

Serve the fries hot with your choice of dipping sauce, like ketchup or mayo. Enjoy!
