Start by washing the tomatoes and basil leaves under running water, then pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.
Slice the tomatoes into even, not-too-thick slices. If you're using large tomatoes, aim for about 1/4 inch thickness.
Slice the fresh mozzarella into sections similar in thickness to the tomato slices. If it's a complete mozzarella ball, this should give you even, round slices.
On a large serving platter, begin layering the salad by alternating slices of tomato and mozzarella. For presentation, lay them in a row or a circular pattern.
Once layered, tuck fresh basil leaves in between the slices of tomato and mozzarella. Distribute them evenly to provide flavor throughout the salad.
Drizzle the balsamic glaze evenly over the salad. Be sure not to overdo it to maintain the balanced taste.
Finally, sprinkle salt and freshly cracked black pepper over the top of the salad to your liking.
Serve the Caprese Salad immediately, or refrigerate for up to 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld slightly before serving.
