Ingredients

  • 200 g Elbow macaroni
  • 250 g Cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups Whole milk
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 2 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp Paprika (optional)

Instructions

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the flour, whisking constantly until the mixture is smooth and bubbly, about 1 minute.

Gradually add the milk to the butter and flour mixture, continuing to whisk until the mixture is smooth and begins to thicken, about 3 minutes.

Reduce heat to low and slowly add the cheddar cheese, stirring until completely melted and smooth. Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika, if using.

Combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce, stirring until the pasta is fully coated with the sauce.

Serve the mac and cheese immediately while warm and creamy.
