If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning. Meanwhile, preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
Cut the chicken breasts into 1-inch cubes. Season them with salt and black pepper.
Cut the bell peppers and onions into 1-inch squares, roughly the size of the chicken pieces.
Thread the chicken, bell peppers, and onions onto the skewers, alternating between each.
Brush the skewers lightly with olive oil to prevent sticking.
Place the skewers on the preheated grill and cook for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally.
Brush the BBQ sauce generously over the skewers during the last 5 minutes of grilling, ensuring an even coat on all sides.
Once the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F) and has a nice charred appearance, remove the skewers from the grill.
Let the skewers rest for a few minutes before serving to allow the juices to redistribute.
